There are many lighthouses situated around Nova Scotia. Being an Island with a rocky coast line, and known for its fishing, they would have been very necessary. The top photograph is the famous Lighthouse at Peggy's Cove sitting on Granite Boulders. This was the largest one we saw. I am not sure whether they were all working lighthouses. There were certainly some used as restaurants, and Information Offices. I was expecting quite tall lighthouse as we have in NZ, and was very surprised to find them rather small in size. Definitely some were decorative, and people also have them in their gardens. As it is part of Nova Scotia, they are often seen in the Souvenir Shops.
