Oamaru Trip with Nature Photography , January 2009

And then to finish the weekend off we went to the Sunflowers which were in Fortification Rd.

I decided to have a go with Alice's Lens Baby.

And this is Kai 1.

I had never been to this area before, but it was behind Moeraki, and this bay is called Kai 2.

The water was such a beautiful colour.

Further along Shag Point, there was a colony of Seagulls and their young.
Looking down from the cafe/gallery.
Then we found this little gallery which served coffee, and invited us to have our lunch there on the deck. Some likened it to being in the Greek Islands.

This is at Shag Point, below the cliffs, where we cooked!!

Then I decided to be creative!.

The following morning we went to photo this field of mauve colour.

It was so warm that we went for a stroll in the waves along to the Moeraki Boulders.
Carl, Alice,Pat and Lorraine.

We also went to Moeraki Lighthouse where we watched the Yellow Eyed Penguins, coming home to feed their young.
These were mainly juvenile shags, just sitting on the cliffs.

This was the beginning of a wonderful weekend spent in the Oamaru district.
I travelled down with Carl Thompson, and we met up with Alice Dupont, Pat Cowie and Lorraine Gibbs at Timaru. When we arrived in Oamaru we dumped our gear at the Empire Backpackers and went to the Kakanui Beach Rd to photograph the local shags. It was very hot for the whole weekend.
