Moose.

We pulled up at a petrol station to gas up, (and for some to have their fix of coffee at Tim Horton's), and we could not  believe what we we saw hanging out the back of a ute.  A massive moose (which was dead) with a head of horns.  It must have been a difficult job pulling the beast in the back of the ute.   We were all out with our cameras.

Later in the day we meet some men who had been out moose hunting and had shot a moose.  It is the guides job to find the moose for the hunters, and then to haul them back home and gut them.  They have a license and the moose are tagged to show that they have been shot legally.
The moose hunting season is just for 2 weeks in autumn. This moose that they had shot weighed 1000 lbs, and had a horn span of 51".

We were so lucky to be able to see 2  live moose, that were on the side of the road of the Cabot Trail.  This is in a National Park. They were just sitting down.  We crept up  slowly so as not to disturb them only to find that they were not frightened of us at all, and slowly got up and started to munch on the bushes. It appeared to be a mother and youngster.
