People are allowed in the aviaries to feed the birds, and they are so cute.

They are the red banded Kakariki.

They are ground nesting and that is why they have become endangered as their nests are so accessible. They are beautiful little social birds.

These little birds are Kakariki, and they are endangered. They have been hand raised and are in a very large aviary. The young ones that they have are taken to safe areas where they can survive. This one was eating the flower of the Manuka bush.

5 of us went on a work shop on Photo Essay, with Mary-Jo Bedford. It is a Wildlife Recovery Centre, and has an Arts Centre, with Sculpture Trails over 11 acres of hillside.

I just can't get enough of this place, I look at my images quiet often and think back to the lovely time we all had, except ofcourse when they tried to electrocute us all!!!
I see one of your scuptures that I didn't even see...gracious!!
