And just to add to the excitement we had a puncture on the way home, so arrived back in Hanmer a little tired and very dusty.

We only saw one of this plant, and did not recognise it at all.
The Vipers Bu Gloss has germinated well up onto the screes now.
There was one section of the road which was abundant with foxgloves, verbascum and
Vipers Bu gloss.
Typical of the road, and scenery though the Rainbow.
The main power lines go through here so you do not get away from the pylons.
My book tells me that this is the North Island Mountain Foxglove.

A little Robin in the bush behind the hut, where there was a lovely walk.

Just a few steps away was our 'wash basin', Connor's Stream.
Connors Hut where 6 of us slept, and 2 in a tent.
Lunch time further up the track.
A mouse's view of the grasses and wildflowers of the area.
Lint caught 6, and came home with one for a taste for everybody.
Two went fishing with no success.

On the 9th January 2009, a trip was organised up the Rainbow.
This is a road which is north of Hanmer, where you travel through Jacks Pass, St James Station and some of the Molesworth Station, and into the Rainbow Station.
We pitched our tents at Lake Tennyson, for the first night, and all hands were required.
Vehicles were placed in between the tents to try and break the wind. The tents were all standing next morning, but it did 'blow' in the night.
